Meet Your Instructor
I use innovative, industry-leading teaching methods to support your learning.
Crystal Clear Coding's teaching methods are proven to increase your retention levels of the material, which increases passing scores for graduating students.
Every person has their own learning style. Some will learn better visually, while others may be auditory learners, and yet others may learn better kinesthetically. Our curriculum and teaching methods help you identify your own learning style and then use a suggestive system to help you through the program with the highest retention level possible.

Crystal Dawson
CEO/Instructor & Medical Billing and Coding Expert
I was raised as an only child and lived in numerous states across the US. The Florida Keys and Asheville, North Carolina were where I spent the majority of my childhood and early adult years. Always willing to lend a helping hand to my peers, I was constantly told that I should go into teaching. Along with years of introducing myself, people would associate my first name (Crystal) with “clear”… Crystal Clear Coding was bound to happen at sometime in my career though it would take me until I was roughly 40 years old to realize it.
In my 20’s, I was on the fast-track for regional management for a large steakhouse chain. It was the upper corporate leaders that recognized my skills in leading sales and training new hires. It was then that I was in a severe car accident that caused me to have to learn how to walk again in my mid twenties and was advice to leave the restaurant business for longevity of my health. I was able to take my management and people skills from the hospitality industry and apply them to Healthcare.
I began my Healthcare revenue career when I was placed in a medical records department of a hospital in Asheville, NC. Through this hospital, I worked my way through medical records, transcription, billing and coding. I found a love of reading and researching medical records and their requirements
In 2015, I obtained my first American Associate of Professional Coders (AAPC) certification. Since then, I have obtained a total of four credentials, including being an instructor to others coders. My hobbies include: working out, hiking, fishing with my boyfriend, photography, just being outside really. I am also a board member for Dance for Tatas, a non-profit breast cancer awareness; I dance in our entertainment section too.
